Manual Wheelchairs: Transit, Self-Propelled & Attendant-Propelled
At Mobility Link, choice is everything – which is why our wheelchair range covers every way you might want to get around. Whether you’ll be pushing yourself, heading out with someone to help, or kitting out a care setting, there’s a chair here to match.
Self-propelled and attendant-propelled wheelchairs
Not everyone wants or needs a powered chair, and a manual wheelchair often makes far more sense day to day. A self-propelled wheelchair, with its large rear wheels and hand-rims, lets you move under your own steam and stay in control, while a lightweight transit (attendant-propelled) chair is easy for a companion to push and quick to fold into the boot of a car.
Manual chairs also come into their own in places like care homes, hospitals and sheltered housing, where charging and battery upkeep can be a nuisance and staff are on hand throughout the day. That’s why we keep a broad range of non-powered wheelchairs across plenty of styles.
Finding the right fit
From compact travel wheelchairs and roomy bariatric models to nimble active chairs and crash-tested chairs approved for use in vehicles, the details matter: seat width, overall weight, a folding frame for transport, puncture-proof tyres and comfort over longer journeys. Lightweight aluminium frames are easy to lift and store, while sturdier builds give extra support where it’s needed. Our team is happy to help you weigh it all up. Trusted names like Days Healthcare, Drive and Rehasense sit alongside a full set of accessories — pressure-relief cushions, storage bags and weather protection — to keep every trip comfortable, and VAT relief is available on eligible orders.
Prefer something powered? You can browse our full range of electric wheelchairs and powerchairs over in their own dedicated section. Our wheelchair stock is always growing, so it’s worth checking back — and if you’d like a hand choosing the right chair, just get in touch.
